  iPad Air 2 Launched as 'Thinnest Tablet'; iPad mini 3 and iMac with Retina 5K Display Unveiled

Apple on Thursday introduced iPad Air 2 which is just 6.1 mm thin, while also unveiling the iPad mini 3. The price in India for the new tablets has been announced, but there's no word on their exact availability date, though a launch within this month this likely. The iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 will be available in select countries next week.

Available in silver, space grey, and a new gold colour variant, the new iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 offer Touch ID so users can unlock their iPad with their fingerprint. iPad Air 2, which weighs just 437 grams, is powered by the new Apple-designed A8X chip, which delivers a 40 percent improvement in CPU performance and 2.5 times the graphics performance of iPad Air, and still delivers the up to 10-hour battery life.

iPad Air 2 also comes with an improved 8-megapixel camera. iPad Air 2 delivers faster connectivity with 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Multiple-In-Multiple-Out (MIMO) technology.
iPad is a magical piece of glass that runs more than 675,000 apps specifically designed for it, and is thin and light enough that you can comfortably hold it all day; the new iPad Air 2 is packed with amazing new innovations, weighs less than a pound, and at just 6.1 mm is the thinnest tablet in the world," said Philip Schiller, Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing.

The only significant change in the iPad mini 3 compared to its predecessor is the addition of Touch ID fingerprint scanner.

                                  27-inch Retina iMac 
In addition to updating its iPad lineup, Apple today also revealed a 27-inch iMac with Retina display and a new Mac mini.
The new iMac has what Apple calls a "Retina 5K display" because its 5,120-by-2,880 display has four times more pixels than the standard 27-inch iMac and 67 percent more pixels than a 4K display.
The device is available for purchase on Apple's website today, starting at $2,499 with a 3.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 chip, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz, 8GB (two 4GB) of memory, a 1TB Fusion Drive, and an AMD Radeon R9 M290X with 2GB of video memory. It will ship within 1-3 days, while a pick-up option is expected soon.
Those who want a little something extra can opt for a 4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 with Turbo Boost up to 4.4GHz for an extra $250. For $200 more, you can get 16GB of memory, while $600 extra will get you 32GB of memory.


here are also options for a 3TB Fusion Drive ($150), as well as 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of Flash storage, and AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB GDDR5 graphics.
"Thirty years after the first Mac changed the world, the new iMac with Retina 5K display running OS X Yosemite is the most insanely great Mac we have ever made," Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said in a statement. "With a breathtaking 14.7 million pixel display, faster CPU and graphics, Fusion Drive, and Thunderbolt 2, it's the most beautiful and powerful iMac ever."
Even with all those pixels, Apple said the new iMac will reduce display power consumption by 30 percent.
Mac mini
Mac OS X Yosemite is Apple's latest operating system. It arrived today in the Mac App Store as a free download. All new iMacs will also have iMovie, GarageBand, and the suite of iWork apps.
If you're looking for something a little smaller, the updated Mac mini runs fourth-generation Intel Core processors, integrated graphics, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and Thunderbolt 2.

The new Mac mini begins shipping today in three configurations: a 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 2.7 GHz, 4GB of memory, Intel HD Graphics 5000 and a 500GB hard drive starting at $499; a 2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.1 GHz, 8GB of memory, Intel Iris Graphics and a 1TB hard drive for $699; and a 2.8GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.3 GHz, 8GB of memory, Intel Iris Graphics and a 1TB Fusion    Drive for $999.
